The Red Gate is not just a place to stay – it is a place to feel. Tucked into the hills of the Wachau Valley, our boutique retreat offers space for quiet luxury, thoughtful design, and deep connection with nature. Relax in the warmth of our sauna, swim under the sky, or gather in a room where ideas flow as freely as the Danube.
Even a short stay becomes a lasting memory.

About Us

"We came from backgrounds in medicine, but dreamed of leaving the bustle of Vienna to find rest and a slower pace of life. We created a small luxury boutique hotel and an event house for guests who seek the same."
A Dream Come True
As a passionate traveler and long-time hotel guest, I’ve come to appreciate what truly makes a stay memorable - soulful design, quiet comfort, and genuine hospitality. Over the years, this sparked a vision: to create a place that brings all these elements together.
For my husband, the dream was simpler - a peaceful home in the serene Wachau Valley. When the opportunity arose, we combined our dreams and created
The Red Gate, a small boutique hotel in the heart of Spitz an der Donau.
Though my background is in orthodontics, it never felt like my true path. Now, in shaping this place, I’ve found deep fulfillment - through creativity, connection, and offering others a space to feel at home.
The Red Gate is more than a hotel - it’s a dream realized and a new beginning we’re grateful for every day.
A Place to Learn, Share, and Connect
As an orthodontist, I’ve always found joy not just in practicing, but in sharing knowledge. Teaching and connecting with colleagues around the world became one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
When Susanna and I moved to Spitz an der Donau, I saw the chance to turn that passion into a new chapter.
The result – The Red Gate Salon, a space where ideas meet atmosphere. Designed as a multifunctional setting, it brings together a professional presentation space and a warm, intimate lounge. Here, conversations unfold, knowledge is shared, and moments take shape - from courses and guest talks to seminars and selected workshops, as well as dinners and private gatherings.
A place not only to meet, but to connect — quietly, meaningfully, and with intention.
